Position Summary:
The Union Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for managing all aspects of union payroll processing, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), and maintaining accurate records. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, a deep understanding of union regulations, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing:
Administer weekly payroll for union employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Maintain and update payroll records, including employee information, wage changes, and deductions.
Process terminations and new hires in accordance with company policies and union agreements.
Union Compliance:
Interpret and apply CBAs to payroll calculations and deductions.
Prepare and submit union remittance reports, including dues, benefits, and fringe contributions.
Stay updated on changes in union agreements and labor laws affecting payroll.
Certified Payroll Reporting:
Compile and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Ensure accurate documentation for prevailing wage projects.
Audit and Reconciliation:
Conduct regular audits to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll and union agreements.
Employee Support:
Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and union-related matters.
Provide training and support on payroll systems and processes.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing, with at least 2 years in a unionized construction environment.
Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage 300) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Strong understanding of federal and state labor laws, including Davis-Bacon Act and prevailing wage requirements.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
Familiarity with E-Verify and other employment verification systems.
